....Simplify & Organize.....

I know it’s almost April -- but I don't really stick to any of the New Year’s resolutions I make so I didn’t make any at the beginning of 2012.  ....BUT I did make a couple of goals for this coming year.

These goals include .....
Simplify my life and Organize my life.

Many of you can relate when I say that I'm busy.
(I know I hear background cheering and whistling)

I'm a wife, mom, co-worker, babysitter, nurse, shopper, cook, housekeeper, chauffer, cheerleader, and in my spare time – I craft.
All of this taken into consideration....my life was "cluttered" -- not by all of the stuff I HAD to do but by NOT taking the time to organize all of the things around me to be the best wife, mom, co-worker….etc. I needed to be.
After years of saying “one day…next week, next month or next year” I was ready for a change and be the person I wanted to be, more organized in all areas of my life.
I know this is going to take some time.

My blog is mostly considered crafty paper crafts but I really have a passion about organization and finding "new" ways to make things easier for me, my family and work life.

I think one of the neatest things about being a blogger amongst so many other bloggers is that we come in contact with or find inspiration everywhere.  (I hope that makes sense)

Here are a couple of my favorite organizing blogs....

Happy Easter Scrapbook Pages

Hello and welcome to the March 2012 edition of the Design Team projects hosted by My Pink Stamper.  I hope you enjoy our projects, tips, tricks and techniques we have for you!

Each month the entire receives the same assignment which may include theme, type of project, color combo etc. and this month our assignment was to incorporate the colors green, yellow and blue into any project type.

For my project….I chose to complete a scrapbook page(s) because I REALLY want to get more into scrapbooking my family…..for my pages below….you may notice the simplicity of my pages because I've made the decision that "less is better" -- meaning I don't need to spend hours making one page that I lose interest.  Simple pages with a simple theme to enhance my pictures on the pages.  I'm giving this approach a try -- so you may see more scrapbook pages here.  :)

Supplies:

10 Minute Spring Arrangement

Hi everyone -- I hope you are enjoying your week-end….

I wanted to share my 10 minute Spring Arrangement that I made for myself -- yes, it only took me about 10 minutes to do (once I gathered my supplies)…

Photobucket
Here is what I did -- and you can too!

These are the supplies I used:
glass vase
glass beads (floral section)
bushes of silk flowers in spring colors
(Joanne's had a great sale on silks this week)

============================

I started with….a large mouth glass vase

then I filled vase 3/4 full of glass beads

A few tips on flower choices:
When I pick out bushes of flowers for arrangements I most always go with a color family, as you can see here in the picture….I look for flowers that have the same coordinating colors, or blending colors.  For instance I knew I wanted pink as my main color in this arrangement so I chose flowers that had lots of shades of pink, mixing in lighter and darker tones.  I also look for a bush that has the color I am blending in as well as texture to it (not all the same design, kind of flower or dimension).  You will be amazed at the beautiful arrangements you can create by matching and mixing tones, textures and coordinating colors.

Start with one bush of flowers right in the center -- yes just pushing it right on down there in the center of those beads

As you begin to add and build your arrangement…. add the next few bushes and begin to pull and shape the branches (some up and some down over side) - silks are very forgiving….

Continue to add your bushes, pulling, shaping and form until you get the appearance you like.  Sometimes it takes just a little "tweaking" here and there to get the look  you want.  If you have a "hole" -- fill it in with greenery, ivy, or another flower bush.  The possibilities are endless!

A few more tips…..
  • I almost never cut apart my flower bushes when arranging ….I simply stick them in and shape them where I want them to be. The glass beads work great!
  • I browse around for about 4 or 5 different flower bushes that I want to arrange together.
  • I almost always purchase 2 of the same bush that way my arrangement is more full.
  • I always look for sales -- silk flowers can be very expensive.  Check the craft stores for sales.
  • I love to change from year to year so when I am tired of looking at this arrangement I will pull it apart, using the flowers in another project, the glass beads go back with the others I'm not using and my vase gets put up for another day!  It works for me!

If you like my floral idea -- feel free to pin it!

I'd love to hear your floral decor tips and helpful hints too!

Name Badge Tags for Stamp Storage Crates

Hi everyone --

I'm {always} looking for an easier, more fun and creative ways to store my crafting supplies and I wanted to share with you how I store my package stamps (i.e. My Pink Stamper, Peachy Keen Stamps, Alphabets, craft store stamps & other crafty stamps) - yes, I have lots :)  I also wanted a way to identify what was inside…..so I made some cute little tags to quickly spot what is in each crate….and wanted to share with you.

I bought some clear horizontal badge holders a while back and knew I'd find a use for them -- I hope you find my crafty tip enjoyable.

I started with these clear crates from Wal-Mart (I paid around a buck for each).

If you like my storage idea -- feel free to pin it :)
Thanks!
